Welcome to Crater Bass!
Crater Bass, is a club of anglers who have a common interest in tournament bass fishing that emphasizes on family values, the enhancement of warm-water species, and the sharing of bass fishing knowledge. Crater Bass is established for all anglers and offers many benefits other Bass clubs leave out. If you are a tournament veteran you'll find that the format that we offer is unique to our area and notice that we're involved in more than just tournament fishing.
Our tournaments are a team format. Anglers are paired and fish together as a team. They accrue points individually. Points are awarded in order of the places that the team comes in. Each team member receives the same amount of points no matter who catches the most fish or the biggest for that matter. We also throw in some twists like Target fish, Bonus fish, and the Same Bag tournament to mix things up.
· Target fish: Before a tournament, a number is drawn between 1-4. This represents the Target fish. If a team's biggest fish weighs within that target number, plus or minus .5 pounds, the individuals of the team receive an additional 3 bonus points each towards the Angler of the Year Races.
· Bonus fish: Bonus fish tournaments work like this. A team tries to catch their limit of fish, usually 5 total. In Oregon the team can bring in a 6th fish, however, that fish must measure between 10 and 11 inches only. In California the 6th fish must measure between 12 and 13 inches constituting as the bonus fish respectively.
Summary, Bonus fish help you towards winning individual tournaments and taking home money and trophies, First thru Third, boater and non-boater. Target fish help you accrue more points to put toward the angler of the year races. Notice that I said races? Crater Bass awards year end Angers of the year in three different categories. Non-boater, Women's, and Overall points champion. Along with trophies, the Overall point's champion wins the coveted Crater Bass jacket.
"So if you fish hard, catch good fish, and get a little lucky in the process, you'll be the next Angler of the year!"
Crater Bass shares all knowledge with one another to help improve anglers fishing success with our monthly Fishermation section of the newsletters. We get this information from the success stories told after each tournament. We also participate in many projects around the area from youth fishing day's to willow and sedge planting, all of which accrue points toward the angler of the year races. This only scratches the surface! There is so much that Crater Bass have to offer that it's hard to fit it all on the front page so come and see for yourself what Crater Bass has to offer.
